THE CORE PURPOSE

Mission Statement

To inspire curiosity for the next generation of leaders.

Purpose

My mother always said that idle hands make for the devil’s work, and I am certainly the type of person that when I don’t have something to meaningful to do, I get bored and I feel unproductive.  The main purpose of this website is selfish.  I am using it as an opportunity to encourage me to learn new things and learn them well enough such that I could explain them to a novice – I think there’s great skill in being able to take difficult concepts and make them sound simple (I certainly was never one of those trader’s that liked to use jargon just to make myself sound fancy).

Does this make me an expert in the topics?  No.  What qualifies me to speak about them then?  Nothing, really.  But if you think an old dog can’t learn new tricks, then you probably wouldn’t have found me in the first place as you yourself wouldn’t be doing any research that led you here.

If through this journey of mine I can either spark at least one other person’s curiosity or inspire them to learn something new, then that would be great.  If I did, let me know.  It would be the cherry on top of an already rewarding personal journey.

EXPERIENCE

RAKBANK – Dubai
Senior Vice President / Vice President, Capital & Liquidity Management | Mar 2024 – Mar 2026

  • Led strategic planning and optimization of capital and liquidity, ensuring resilience and regulatory compliance.
  • Supported the Bank’s crypto­brokerage licensing process and the regulatory application for launching an AED-backed stablecoin.
  • Strengthened external credit ratings, securing upgrades from Fitch and Moody’s.
  • Directed disclosures and secured central bank approval for inaugural landmark issuances.
  • Overhauled the Bank’s Capital Contingency Plan and spearheaded capital elements of the Recovery Plan.

  • Reduced funding and liquidity costs by redeveloping funds transfer pricing methodology.
  • Optimized high quality liquid asset portfolio and led central bank repo facilities.
  • Acted as primary treasury advisor for new business initiatives.
  • Liaised directly with regulators across North America, UK, and Asia.
  • Oversaw treasury P&L reporting and implemented automated liquidity stress testing tools.
